Chico/Paradise, CA – Artist, Shane Grammer and Photographer, Terence Duffy will host a fundraiser art exhibition to benefit local artists and survivors of the Camp Fire, set for Friday, June 7, 2019 at the Northern California Museum of Art, 900 Esplanade, Chico, CA.
Murals painted by Grammer and photographed by Duffy, sponsored by Hughey Phillips LLP and others, will benefit the Museum of Northern California Museum of Art’s Summer School for trauma victims of the Camp Fire and ongoing programs at Paradise Arts Center.
The exhibition will start at 5pm with a VIP event reception for sponsors, donors, and special guests including artists meet and greet, art installation reveal, and more. Main event: presentations from survivors, local officials, survivor updates, victim memorial, a live painting experience by artist Shane Grammer, photo ops with the artist and photographer, poster and canvas painting raffles, as well as posters and art pieces for purchase.
“Beauty in Ashes” was conceived when Shane Grammer saw a picture of a friend’s home lost in the Camp Fire. Grammer contacted his friend to see if he could paint a picture on his fireplace to symbolize that there is still beauty among ashes. It was the first of many murals that Shane painted in Paradise. In Grammer’s word “I wanted to paint something that brought hope in the middle of complete destruction.”

About Paradise Arts Center
Paradise Art Center, with its Wheeler Gallery, has been supporting, encouraging, and teaching visual arts in our community in excess of 60 years. Its historic 100-year-old building survived the Camp Fire in November 2018. Although many of our members have had to relocate as a result of this devastating catastrophe, the Art Center is committed to re-opening our facility and continuing our mission to expand and enrich the lives of Ridge residents with art by summer of 2019.
